Lyamin Andrei V.Dr., Professor

Place of work: Newcastle University

In 2000, he received a PhD in civil engineering. He played a key role in the formulation and development of new methods for performing numerical analysis of the stability of geotechnical structures in two and three dimensions. These methods, based on finite elements and nonlinear programming, are the first to be able to calculate strict limits of the maximum load in three dimensions. His research interests also cover such topics as aerospace engineering related to flight range issues (aeronautics). Many studies are related to topics such as load limits and structural design. Limit load research often overlaps with other fields such as the finite element method. In his works, Lyamin A.V. combines several scientific fields, including geotechnics and structural engineering.
