New methods have been developed for calculating steel bendable elements and struts (columns), principles for evaluating the structural strength of rolled products taking into account the structure of the material, based on the analysis of steel hardening mechanisms, ways have been established to simultaneously increase the strength and resistance to brittle fracture of rolled products and structural elements. The physical and technological methods of increasing the crack resistance of rolled steel, the physical basis for the transition of elements of steel structures from a viscous state to a brittle one have been developed. Fundamentally new steels with a composite structure, microalloyed, strengthened by heat treatment methods, with high operational and technological properties have been created and applied in building structures, ensuring reliable operation of the material in load-bearing mass and unique structures and in high-rise construction, including under extreme conditions (low temperatures, dynamic loads, high fire effects, etc.). The principles of preservation and use of steels produced at the beginning of the 20th century during the restoration and restoration of cultural heritage sites of federal significance have been developed. For the first time, with the direct participation and leadership, a comprehensive system of scientific and technical support for the construction of unique buildings and structures was developed and implemented, aimed at ensuring their operational reliability and economic efficiency.
