One of the leading scientists in the field of theoretical foundations and design of functional building and complex management systems, information technologies of design and management in construction, is the current head of the leading scientific school of the Russian Federation "Theory and analysis of systems in construction" ("System Engineering of construction" by Professor Alexander Antonovich Gusakov), the author of a new conceptual paradigm in construction – "the coefficient of intelligence of buildings" (BIQ – Building Intelligence Quotient).

Research interests: cybernetics, system analysis and system engineering, artificial intelligence, mathematical logic and modeling, functional building and complex management systems ("intelligent" buildings, "Building Intelligence Quotient" (BIQ), safety management, energy (resource) efficiency, automation of design and management processes in construction, information and telecommunication systems and technologies, software, economics of innovation.

He is the author of more than 300 scientific and educational works, including several monographs published in Russia and abroad, more than 30 patents (copyright certificates) for utility models, industrial designs, computer programs / databases, and several know-how MGSU.

He initiated, organized and heads several programs of international scientific cooperation between MGSU and specialized universities, faculties, professional associations and organizations from different countries.
